Just a great day (8/16/2014) at the Arboretum in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The Arboretum is located less than a mile from the land my Great Great Grandfather’s (Anton Schiele) homestead in Minnesota.
That leaf was about 15 inches across. It reminded me of a spider web or a piece of fine lace. I was tempted to cut in off to bring home to mount it. But better to leave it for others to happen upon.
It was beautiful. It reminded me of a poem I had just posted a few days before about a Japanese beetle, which I described as making lace of leaves. 🙂
Beautiful flowers!
There were thousands of them along a 3 mile walk through the forests and hills.
I wonder if the Japanese Beetles were at that maple leaf.
