Very interesting shot of bright orange bugs on the milkweeds–I’m waiting for my milkweed pods to burst so I can get a shot but they insist on staying green!
I was walking in the park and saw a bright splash of orange. At first I thought it was a new type of flower I hadn’t seen before. What a surprise to find those bugs in the milkweeds.
Turns out they are known as the milkweed bug (Oncopeltus fasciatus) they eat the milkweed seeds. Birds do not like them, so they avoid the milkweed plants saving the monarch catapillers that also nest on them.
It seems that there is a special bug for every plant–makes me wonder where they come from–the other day I doubletaked because I noticed an orange bug on a marigold — almost didn’t see it as it was a perfect match.

Where I live in Florida winter is a joyous occasion, for me anyway, because it is the one time of the year that the humidity goes low enough to be tolerable. I save up all of my work projects to do in the winter when the bit of chill in the air and the lack of moisture inspire me to hard work 🙂

Too bad fall becomes winter (and cold) But I guess it is worth it to have the colors of fall on display.
