The 41st Annual Ryder Cup is taking place this weekend in Chaska, Minnesota on land that was homesteaded or settled in the 1850’s by my family’s German and Swedish ancestors. Six generations of 3 different branches of my family lived within 30 miles of the area. One of these relatives was a commercial, industrial and residential real estate developer. He purchased the land for the Hazeltine Golf Course along with the surrounding properties that were turned into housing and commercial businesses. Joseph Notermann was a man of incredible vision combined with business skills that inspired so many to accomplish so much.
It amazes me to watch the Ryder Cup this weekend and think about how one man’s dream could affect so many.
