Yes, I can see the Rumplestiltskin idea, too. Love the first two lines.
Yes, I really was satisfied with the first two. I had trouble expressing choice with conflict in the last line. I remember the mysterious gypsies who came into my hometown and set up camp. We were told to stay away to protect ourselves! In the morning they were gone with no trace of them ever being there. It was a lot of mystery for a North Dakota farm boy to take in.
How about “Conflict left for day” instead…
