This morning the air was so still
As if waiting for a gust of wind
In that moment her hope is pinned
To her everyday test of will.

The young ones love their tests of skill,
In battles with daily travail.
Some will falter and some might fail
At least they tried to reach the end.
If your goal’s to outrun the wind
Winners must take steps to prevail!

“Décima” (also known as Espinel)is a Spanish style or form of musical poetry that contains 10 lines of eight syllables.

The style has a rhyming pattern of abbaaccddc. Sometimes you break the stanza up in abba/accddc.

The abba/accddc requires either a period or semicolon after the fourth line break.

  1. Awesome, you used it twice. I wish I could run like that. Or even walk like I used to. I would get up at around 4:30-5 am and walking 4-5 miles before getting a shower, making breakfast and getting my son ready for preschool, and the person I call the Her. Then walk about a mile at work during lunch, and then a couple – 4 miles in the evenings when it became cool. Now, I can’t walk to the mailbox and back without pausing in pain. I miss those times. Quiet, thinking moments.
