Ronovan Décima Poetry Challenge #20
“Smile” In C rhyme line

The place is dim and filled with haze
Same weary souls await last call.
One last shot just before they crawl
Home to nothing, the same always.
Another day in sad malaise!

Then a women’s voice in the aisle
Waking souls with her joyful smile.
What difference a moment makes,
A single song is all it takes
To change the mood once with her style.

Sunday Morning Reprisal

(Just wait till we get home!)

Trip to olive grove
To select a proper whip
-Double punishment

Just how painful should it be
To fulfill a mother’s aim

Stay – A Décima Love Song

“Stay” In A rhyme line

Stay!

Our time is ending won’t you stay?
There is so much left to explore.
Hopes and dreams of what is in store,
Don’t leave this moment slip away.

My hands are trembling, they betray,
That you’re thinking the same thing too.
Let’s leave nothing to misconstrue!
The fire is burning in the hearth,
Please stay by me and share the warmth.
There is so much that’s left to do.

*Writer’s note – This is one poem that changed entirely as it was being written. At first, it was a beginning – Then it became an ending!

Haiku Challenge (8/10/20)

Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge 318 – Meet / Part

The challenge is to create a linked haiku, known in a fashionable eclectic circle as Shi Rensa Haiku

night2

Then Again

Day’s closing sunlight
Meets this evenings shade of blue
Young lovers must part.

Young lovers must part
Daylight memories remain
Thoughts cast to the night

Thoughts cast to the night
Fills the heart with pleasant dreams
Till night becomes day

Till night become day
And blue is lit by sunlight
Love begins again

Significance of D Rhyme Line

What can be said about Ronovan placing “Prize” in the D rhyme line? – Apparently a lot!

In summation word will stand alone,
Outcome of facts obtained before.
Its significance hard to ignore
In word play it’s hard to dethrone!
In rhyming scheme it is well known,
It’s not the first, second, or third,
An accumulation what’s occurred.
Now we don’t want to rhapsodize,
It is time to award the prize,
To say more would just be absurd.

blue windmill2

Day after day the clear well water flow,
Down through a pipe to old rusted tin trough.
That farms water pump cycles on and off,
As the windmill turns and prairie breeze blow.
Pumping cold water from steel shaft below,
That’s drilled two hundred feet through sand and rock,
Bringing precious water for farm and stock.
The windmill blades keep turning round and round,
Driving old gears whose iron teeth have been ground,
Rusted old bearings that sing round the clock.

In the year two thousand nineteen
Exotic meat sold in Wuhan.
Special food to debut in
A little rice with sweet green bean.
Wish it included a vaccine.
Three months later the problem grows,
Must shut it down leaders propose.
They thought first it was endemic,
Now world suffers in a pandemic.
When it will end nobody knows!
