Empty Eyes

Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge 269 Coping / Support

In my gloomy whole
find no joy here or support
-writing is coping

Writing about memories
is my tunnel to escape

Echoes of horror
Left from a nightmare’s shadow
Steals the morning light

Love’s Light

Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge 154 Darkness/Deep

Words and Image ©2017 Clarence Holm

Deep within my soul
Love called tempestuous winds
To stir the darkness

Now my heart can sense the light
Where once only blackness dwelled

One Perfect Moment

– Clarence Holm

The sky was light
And the moon was full,
The great horned owl
had just begun to soar.

I’m waited on the schoolyard swings
for childhood friends
who promised
they’d sneak out to play.

Rusted chains, weathered seats
Gravel ruts beneath my feet.
Standing tall I pump and pumped,
When the earth let go a friend.

Up-up I flew
Where the starlight held me still.
A perfect moment of my life
Stored for my eternal dreams.

And then the moment over
I drifted for a while.
Swinging with measured strokes
Till darkness came to stay.

No children came to share the night
And I walked slowly home.
But I will always remember when
The night time was my throne.
