Ronovan Décima Poetry Challenge #24
“Look” In the C rhyme line

Art from Crate&Barrel

As family sagas are spun
Twisting turns of a story line.
Visions judged, challenges align
Chapters finished, others begun.

Someone’s vision that judged and done
Began journey without a look
Over mountains, a brand new nook.
Like most stories, beginnings start
Seeking truths, without a chart.
A never ending storybook.

Décima 8/4/2020

blue windmill2

Day after day the clear well water flow,
Down through a pipe to old rusted tin trough.
That farms water pump cycles on and off,
As the windmill turns and prairie breeze blow.
Pumping cold water from steel shaft below,
That’s drilled two hundred feet through sand and rock,
Bringing precious water for farm and stock.
The windmill blades keep turning round and round,
Driving old gears whose iron teeth have been ground,
Rusted old bearings that sing round the clock.

In the year two thousand nineteen
Exotic meat sold in Wuhan.
Special food to debut in
A little rice with sweet green bean.
Wish it included a vaccine.
Three months later the problem grows,
Must shut it down leaders propose.
They thought first it was endemic,
Now world suffers in a pandemic.
When it will end nobody knows!

La Poesía Dice “Beep-Beep”

Ronovan Décima Poetry Challenge #14
“Bird” In A rhyme line

La Poesía Dice “Beep-Beep”

In the comics beep-beep is heard
Just two words and the hero’s found.
With a roadrunner’s trademarked sound
Coyote is shaken and quite stirred

In the comics there is a bird
Known for agility and speed,
He fights for justice, never greed.
Acme’s anvils and TNT
Always ordered by the coyote
Will never work that’s guaranteed!

“Décima” Story

The old trainers tell a story
Of two boxers in training camps.
Both train so hard to be the champ,
Now here’s the truth of this story
Lesson found in allegory.
When two fighters are trained so hard
One will lose with his record scarred
Winner keeps seeking a gold belt
Still both must face what life has dealt
Two fighters fought one stayed on guard.

Prairie Dreams

Ronovan’s Décima Poetry Challenge #10 “Sense” In D rhyme spot

In prairie dreams skies look bluer
The white clouds drift and fade away.
Day is calling from the doorway,
With a promise of adventure.

In the distance rests my future,
Beyond dark worries of the night.
Dreams are calling from bright sunlight,
Past the shadows, beyond the fence.
Chasing dreams only I can sense
With arms outstretched, my soul takes flight!

Greatest Of All

I’m finding Décima Poetry offers a platform to voice rants and outrage as well as thoughts of hope and love.

Here is an example of my latest Décima Poetry Rant

Early morn manic excreting
Ludicrous rants of angry souls.
His twisted facts and twisted goals
Are his subjects of vile tweeting.

Race baiting’s the point of greeting
As he seeks to divide us all
He’s desperate to avoid a fall.
When leadership lacks restriction
And words nothing more than fiction
His failings are greatest of all!

Ronovan’s challenge is to put “Next” or its synonym In the B rhyme spot
I chose Next=Then

After the riot smoke blocks the sun
City in shambles, questions then.
What causes this, time and again?
We search for answers, there are none!

Crowd seeks justice for everyone
Questions are asked but nothing’s found
Lost hope’s a feeling that’s profound.
Standing on rubble filled with pain
Mob seeks a villain – hate remains
Anger drives the hot flames around

Decima Poetry Challenge

Fire

Late after dark city started burning
Unknown looters were running around
The people carried angry fire downtown
Hands up the crowds disappointment is churning.

Equal treatment is what they are yearning.
For too long resentment has been on hold!
For too long our stories been untold,
By men who have held power and great means.
Fire set in cities, the torch burns and cleans,
Fire burned injustice it’s our day, behold!

This is my first attempt at Decima Poetry. The rhyming pattern of abbaaccddc. Ronovan’s challenge was to use “Fire” in the “a” spot of the pattern. I cheated and used Fire as a topic. Decima poetry is brand new to me even though it is centuries old. (Sometimes it’s good to force a Swedish/German to learn new things.   Thank you Ronovan for the stretch!
