Bell Ringer

Ronovan Décima Poetry Challenge #22
“Blend” In the A rhyme line

Braving the cold by stores’ front end,
Faithful servant in Christmas corps.
Tattered coat hard to ignore,
Through rain and snow, he must contend!

Among shoppers, he doesn’t blend.
Seek pennies for smiles – fair exchange
Into his bucket, gathered change
Charities’ Christmas bell ringer.
Thru the season he will linger,
Gathering bits of your loose change

Outhouse Blues

Ronovan Décima Poetry Challenge #21
“Tip” In D rhyme line

On the prairie stood the small shed
Fragrant outpost now left alone.
Special building, to some a throne
Sanctuary behind homestead.

Crescent moon, all that need be said!
Sear and Roebuck, the weekly news,
Printed daydreams, crumpled views,
Alley Oop, weekly comics strips,
And contemplation – farmhouse tips.
Harkens back to old Outhouse Blues.

Stay!

Our time is ending won’t you stay?
There is so much left to explore.
Hopes and dreams of what is in store,
Don’t leave this moment slip away.

My hands are trembling, they betray,
That you’re thinking the same thing too.
Let’s leave nothing to misconstrue!
The fire is burning in the hearth,
Please stay by me and share the warmth.
There is so much that’s left to do.

*Writer’s note – This is one poem that changed entirely as it was being written. At first, it was a beginning – Then it became an ending!

Significance of D Rhyme Line

What can be said about Ronovan placing “Prize” in the D rhyme line? – Apparently a lot!

In summation word will stand alone,
Outcome of facts obtained before.
Its significance hard to ignore
In word play it’s hard to dethrone!
In rhyming scheme it is well known,
It’s not the first, second, or third,
An accumulation what’s occurred.
Now we don’t want to rhapsodize,
It is time to award the prize,
To say more would just be absurd.

In the year two thousand nineteen
Exotic meat sold in Wuhan.
Special food to debut in
A little rice with sweet green bean.
Wish it included a vaccine.
Three months later the problem grows,
Must shut it down leaders propose.
They thought first it was endemic,
Now world suffers in a pandemic.
When it will end nobody knows!

Out on the farm a dog and cat
No finer pals you’ll ever find.
Then the dog barked, you’re not my kind
How could the news be worse than that?

The chicken called and so did the rat
It turns out now you’re not canine.
Then I’m told it seems you’re feline!
You never bark, you say meow
Still we are friends I will allow
I don’t care what others opine.

“Bird” In A rhyme line

La Poesía Dice “Beep-Beep”

In the comics beep-beep is heard
Just two words and the hero’s found.
With a roadrunner’s trademarked sound
Coyote is shaken and quite stirred

In the comics there is a bird
Known for agility and speed,
He fights for justice, never greed.
Acme’s anvils and TNT
Always ordered by the coyote
Will never work that’s guaranteed!

“True” In C rhyme line

pool-party

La Piscina

In bright sun, the blue summer pool
A vinyl cooler, filled with a hose.
Hidden respite to shed some clothes
Dream of cold water I’m no fool.

This oasis is my jewel
A hidden scheme some say it’s true
Though it’s plastic we still make do.
Now jealous neighbors come around
It’s bought at Wal-Mart so they frown
So we wade and bid them adieu
