Night Time Getaway

Something strange was out there,
Just beyond the bedroom light
But when I grabbed my teddy bear,
It vanished from my sight.

I pulled at my bed sheets,
And drew them extra tight.
Terrifying childhood heartbeats,
Race through me tonight!

Panic overtakes me,
I slip through the hallway door,
I run to my parent’s bedside,
And slide in quietly while they snore.

The rumbling seems to sooth me
And frightens the beast away.
Soon I’d be sleeping deeply,
In my nighttime getaway.
