Ronovan Décima Poetry Challenge #12
“Wind” In B rhyme line
This morning the air was so still
As if waiting for a gust of wind
In that moment her hope is pinned
To her everyday test of will.
The young ones love their tests of skill,
In battles with daily travail.
Some will falter and some might fail
At least they tried to reach the end.
If your goal’s to outrun the wind
Winners must take steps to prevail!

Around Me…
so much happening while I stay home, avoiding the Corona Virus! In the background, the news drones on while elsewhere the death toll rises.
August whirlwinds drift
above farmer’s black tilled fields
-distant church bells toll
Prairie birds don’t heed the sounds
they’re just like the clouds above

Dawn’s dreary vistas
greet October’s darkened skies
-geese call to their mate
Westerly winds are raging
goldenrod has lost its shine

Meadowlarks soar on
wind’s sundown prairie song
-chasing cares away
Calling dreams of yesterday
with echoing trills of joy
