Winter

Written on a winter walk-

shimmering branches
suspended from winter sky
squirrel tracks in rhyme

melting april snow
tumbling from church gable
glisten on snowdrift

~

fiery red dogwoods
floating in wind packed snow
hold a nibbled branch

~

spring promise
by the frozen field
— bare lilacs

~

cool white horizon
quivering in morning sun
capped by azure sky
