I post therefore I make mistakes… Got a problem with that!

Some of you may know that I took early retirement from my marketing position due to health issues.
Years of pressure and stress has taken its toll on me. While I survived a major stroke a number of years ago, I still suffer from manageable Aphasia and memory loss problems. This was recently amplified by heart issues resulting in a triple bypass.
I resigned my position because I could no longer trust what I thought I was saying or writing was accurate.
I started writing Haiku and Senryu because they allowed me to work in a smaller format. I find it is too easy for me to get lost in my words when writing longer posts. The freedom from word count, rhyming, and rules that the forms offer, suits me
So if you observe me omitting words or notice I make multiple corrections to my posts, just chalk it up to someone who will never be a professional writer and just wants to share his thoughts.

  1. You are not alone. I had to give up my position as a teacher and struggle with cognitive issues as well. Writing poetry helps keep my mind going (I suppose that is debatable, lol). So, same goes for me – forgive the mistakes.

    • This may seem petty, but you disqualified my haiku because I strayed from 5 7 5 and yet you published Deborah’s that was 5 7 6. Seemed a bit arbitrary.. I was already having a very bad week and it was just one more thing for me,,,

      • Ah! Sorry, you took it that way and my apologies if I was not paying closer attention to my own rules. Now I will have to investigate as to the piece you are referring to. Sometimes though, we all make mistakes. I sure wish you would have tried to talk this through with me instead, might have saved some hurt feelings in the long run.

      • And of course, to make matters worse, I looked at the wrong post just now. I did find the error in the correct post. Have made the correction. Again, sorry! I will try to be more careful next time. 🙂
